How it works

Statutory contributions are computed monthly. Employee shares are deducted from wages, while employer shares are paid in addition.

  • EPF (KWSP): Retirement savings. The standard employee share is 11%. The employer share is 13% for monthly wages of RM5,000 and below, and 12% for wages above RM5,000.
  • SOCSO (PERKESO): Under Category 1 (under 60), the employee contributes approx 0.5% and the employer contributes approx 1.75%. Under Category 2 (60 and above), only the employer contributes approx 1.25%. A wage ceiling of RM6,000 applies.
  • EIS (SIP): Employment Insurance System. Employee and employer contribute 0.2% each, capped at RM6,000.
  • PCB (MTD): Monthly Tax Deduction. Calculated using the LHDN progressive tax rates (ranging from 0% to 30% for resident individuals) after personal and statutory reliefs. Non-residents are taxed at a flat 30%. Zakat functions as a direct tax rebate.
